Jr. Staff have responsibility to positively lead and encourage participants – by their example – to participate in and to learn and grow from the diverse experiences offered here at ARTS-Us. Jr. Staff should help with set up and break down of supplies and equipment. The Jr. Staff’s participation and work “models” the eager participation/engagement expected of all our participant.  The Jr. Staff’s example sets the Bar for participation and expectation for the participants.

Duties include:

*Motivates and serves as a role model in each activity for all program participants.

*Operates according to ARTS-Us policies and procedures.

*Helps to ensure that all rooms are cleaned, sanitized and returned to their original state upon the students’ exiting the area and at the open and close of each day.

*Assist and support staff as needed

*Perform other duties as assigned

*Sets an example of positive participation and responsiveness as the “demo student” in all activities of the camp.

Minimum Qualification:

*Age 14+

*Experience working with children

*Patience

*Ability to hide frustration and/or annoyance

*Calm under pressure

*Ability to communicate not just to children but adults as well

*Monitoring skills

*Lots and lots of enthusiasm

*Cleaning and organizing skills

Preferred qualification:

*Interested in Early childhood development

*Artist background

The Jr. Gardener will be responsible for performing on going gardening task, and maintain all tools and equipment to ensure longevity. We have 2 vegetable gardens located on the premises that requires regular maintenance almost daily. This position is for someone who likes working outside, with their hands and does not mind getting a little dirty.

Duties include:

* Plants, transplants, fertilizes, applies chemicals, waters, prunes, and weeds flower beds and plant areas.

* Maintain the health of all plants, flowers, bushes, trees, and shrubs.

* Plants and propagates bedding plants.

* Assists in the work direction and on-the-job training of other personnel.

* Picks up and disposes of litter.

* May assist in various maintenance activities as required.

* Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

* Experience working with children

Knowledge of horticulture methods and materials, landscaping and cultivation of trees and woody plants.

Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

Ability to perform grounds maintenance tasks.

Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Preferred qualification:

* Interested in Early childhood development

* Artist background

Gardening skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.

Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.

Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.

Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.

Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds

Food Service Staff :

Food service workers are encouraged to learn on the job, which means that you make money while learning valuable skills that can help you advance in your career. Food service is a great industry for new workers who are looking for a versatile skill set.

Duties include:

*Aid in receiving, storing and preparing pre-made meals per requirements at all times.

*Prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food in a timely manner, assuring proper quality and quantity of food prepared.

*Maintain work areas and serving areas in a clean, sanitary and safe condition.

*Greet and pass out meals, remember special requests, and serve food in a timely manner.

*Demonstrate excellent customer service with a positive demeanor when dealing with participants, fielding all complaints promptly, and answering questions.

*Assist with cleaning the Kitchen and dining area promptly after food service. By picking up and proper disposal of trash, clearing and washing plastic trays and dishes, wiping down tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping dining area floor. etc

*Assist in storing unused food and supplies to assure compliance with health and sanitation standards; dispose of unusable leftovers and trash.

*Maintain regular attendance.

*Learn and follow health and sanitation requirements.

*Adhering to safety and sanitation standards at all times! Making sure that all surfaces and food is free or contaminants and pathogens that might make participants sick.

*Learn, apply and explain policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

*Perform other duties as assigned.

*Basic record-keeping techniques.
